Ten meetings in one week: Barry gives Nexler a serious sales boost
The story
"Barry has proven that calling simply works, especially in a world full of digital noise." Nexler helps organisations work smarter by automating processes and making better use of data. The Groningen-based company was formed in late 2022 out of a merger, founded among others by Martijn Roorda and his business partner Bert Tukkers. Their mission: automate repetitive work, so people can focus on what really matters — work with impact. Martijn explains: "We want people to have time left for meaningful work. By automating processes, you keep room for creativity and client contact."
Reaching new clients
Nexler grew steadily over the past few years, but was looking for a way to properly get their story and added value across to new clients too. "What we do, we do well, but how do you tell that story optimally? At Nexler, we invest a lot: marketing through our website, newsletters and social posts, but it doesn't reach enough prospects."
Through the network in the north of the Netherlands, Martijn gets in touch with John from Barry. His challenge for Barry: reach more companies in the north of the Netherlands that struggle with time-consuming processes — for example, organisations where employees still manually key in orders or answer all kinds of standard emails, while automation, especially combined with AI, could make a real difference there.
Listen first, then call
Eric from Barry gets to work for Nexler. Martijn: "Eric didn't start with calling, he started with listening. What exactly does Nexler do? For whom? And why does it work so well? Once that was sharp, he started the real work: direct contact with a selection of prospects."
Up to that point, Nexler hadn't done any cold calling, Martijn says: "Calling really is a craft you have to master. Barry, and Eric with it, really have it down. Eric got straight to work with full conviction — exactly what we needed."
From warm lead to valuable collaboration
"In the first week we already had ten meetings. Even Barry hadn't seen that happen before," Martijn says. "Apparently our story really lands. That was good to hear."
After a few months, Barry's approach works out so well that they decide to hire calling talent within Nexler itself. Martijn: "Barry delivered such good work that we thought: we need to keep doing this. Now we've hired someone in-house to carry the calling forward within Nexler."
For Martijn, Barry's biggest surprise lay in the simplicity of their approach. "In a world full of emails, newsletters and digital distraction, old-fashioned calling actually stands out. Barry shows that personal contact makes the difference. And with results: the first warm leads and collaborations have already rolled out."
Growth through personal contact
Nexler wants to grow into the strategic partner for Dutch SMEs in the field of process automation, data and AI. The collaboration with Barry was an important step in that: a flying start towards national growth, from a solid base in the north. Martijn on Nexler's ambition: "We want to contribute to the northern economy, work together with local entrepreneurs and join forces. There's so much potential in collaborating instead of competing."
In conversations with other local entrepreneurs, colleagues and competitors, he shares his experiences with Barry: "Because Barry's approach simply works. They listen, get your story across well, and make sure something happens. Automation and AI make work smarter, but personal contact remains essential. Nobody understands that better than Barry."
