The story

From organic growth to predictable acquisition

What started as a small digital agency has grown into a specialist in custom software and online marketing. JVDmedia helps organisations professionalise their digital processes with orchestration portals and strategic marketing. "We want to structurally add value for our clients. Not loose tools or quick fixes, but well-thought-out digital foundations that make sense, feel right and deliver demonstrable results," says Johan van Dijk, owner of JVDmedia.

"We build smart custom software that helps organisations get a better grip on their processes," Johan explains. "Think of portals that sit on top of existing systems and make sure loose tools and systems work together. That cuts down on manual handovers, spreadsheets and temporary workarounds, creating one central, scalable way of working. Our solutions are always custom-built and keep evolving: we keep building every month."

The team thinks conceptually and always looks for the best structural solution. "That's something clients often tell us," says Johan. "We look at the bigger picture and see multiple routes to a good end result. In the end, we choose the solution that adds the most value in the long term."

Looking for structural lead generation

For years, work just came in on its own — through their network, existing clients and online marketing. "Everything just came flying in," says Johan. "But once you're growing, you need a structural, predictable inflow of new conversations."

They hired an account manager and experimented with email automation, but cold acquisition remained difficult. "Nobody really enjoyed doing it," Johan says. "We could see it needed to happen, but we didn't have it in-house ourselves."

Barry as the driving force behind new conversations

Through co-owner John Sportel, they got in touch with Barry. The idea was clear: an outside party that structurally books meetings, while Johan and his colleagues handle the follow-up. The start wasn't perfect right away. "We ran a three-month pilot," Johan says. "Plenty of conversations, but not always the right leads. We were upfront about that too."

Barry adjusted the approach and switched things up within the team. "What I liked to see," says Johan, "was that there were no excuses. No 'yes, but'. Just: this needs to be better, how are we going to fix it? They thought along with us and moved with us."

The quality of the conversations went up. The meetings matched the type of projects JVD was looking for much better. "You can tell that Barry understands what software companies do," says Johan. "They're not standard callers. They know what they're talking about."

From meetings to strategic clients

Between September 2025 and February 2026, the collaboration delivered 20 conversations. Two of those have since become clients, and four other trajectories are concrete and promising.

"That conversation came in through Barry," Johan says. "That organisation was initially sceptical about phone-based acquisition. In the end, a substantively strong conversation still emerged, which led to a great collaboration."

These are trajectories with major organisational challenges and a lot of potential. "These are strategically bigger steps," says Johan. "Projects where we can really make a difference at the process level."

Growing together towards 2030

"Right now, we've deliberately scaled back our collaboration with Barry for a while, because there are enough conversations running that need careful follow-up first. That's a luxury," says Johan. "We want to wrap up the current conversations, analyse them, and then continue. The Barry way works well for us."

Towards 2030, JVDmedia wants to grow into a team of 25 to 30 specialists and generalists that helps organisations structurally strengthen their digital foundation. "For us, growth isn't a goal in itself — we want to add value, deliver quality and work at the top level," says Johan.

On Barry, Johan is clear: "They're direct, flexible and persistent. They don't just give up — not with us as a client, but also not on the phone with our prospects. If something can be better, they get to work on it."
